I was very honoured this week to be nominated by the staff for Headteacher of the Year at the Lancashire Evening Post Education Awards. The award ceremony was held on Wednesday night and I was overwhelmed by the number of staff, pupils parents and governors who attended the event. We definitely were the loudest at cheering. Thank you so much.
Last Saturday, the staff at St. Josephs (The Mighty Joes) took part in the Pretty Muddy 5k charity run on Moor Park. The staff raised over £2,000 for the charity, Cancer Research UK. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported; congratulations to all who took part. They will be back next year, even stronger (and muddier!).

On Friday 16th in assembly the Rotary Club presented the school with 30 beautiful dictionary’s for the children to use in classes.
We are very grateful for the resource and they will be treasured and well used by the children.
On Thursday, the Deepdale Duck came to visit and talk to the children about the upcoming football season. Next season, Preston North End are offering free tickets to all children under 11 years of age with a paying adult. The children have also been invited to enter a competition (sent home with them) and if they win, they get the opportunity to be a mascot.
Recently, some of our children celebrated their first Holy Communion. It was a very special day, the children received the Eucharist for the first time and looked very smart! St Joseph's are very proud of the children and congratulate them and their families.
St Joseph's first "Healthy Me" week has been an overwhelming success. Classrooms have been buzzing with investigations and the children have done an excellent job finding out how to stay fit and healthy in a variety of ways. We have eaten and enjoyed (for the most part) a wonderful variety of healthy food and several school visitors took the time to come and share their knowledge with us.
Despite the downpours earlier in the week we still managed to have a very enjoyable series of sports days and it was wonderful to see so many parents showing their support. I would also like to the thank the Year 6 helpers who made the whole process run so smoothly.
Well done to all of the children for their enthusiasm and truly exceptional behaviour during the whole week.
St. Joseph's was very busy last week with the first part of their sports days. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the house team sports day we were going to hold at Chris The King had to be cancelled, but it will be rearranged later in the year.
The rest of the sports days went ahead in the sports and arts hall. All the children had great fun on the carousel of P.E, but the under races were a real hit with both the parents and the children too. Thank you to all the parents that attended, it was great to see so many of you . Lower key stage 2 Running Champion was Jayden Capman, Upper key stage 2 was Mark Iozsa
