Year 5/6 Mr Hicks

Mr Hicks

Welcome to Year 5/6!

We have a busy Spring term ahead of us as we begin our Topic 'World War Two'!

Children have already expressed a keen interest in the topic and have already shared a brilliant previous understanding of some aspects. As part of this learning, our English this term will be be supported by the classic novel Goodnight Mister Tom. In Maths we will be developing our knowledge of number and fractions.

Children will have their PE lessons every Monday afternoon. They should keep their PE kit in school to ensure that they are prepared for the learning. These will be sent home every half term.

Children will be given homework and spellings every Friday, this should be returned on a Wednesday. I am available at lunch times if children are struggling with their homework.

In addition to this, children will bring home a reading book every night. Children should read at home every night to support their learning in school.

If you have any worries or concerns about your child, I am available to speak to every night after school.

Many thanks,

Mrs Newton and Mrs LaRocque.

We have had a very exciting afternoon in Year 5/6 to celebrate storytelling week. The children changed into their pyjamas and enjoyed sharing stories- we even had hot chocolate!! Don't mss out on the opportunity to share a story with your child at home.

Sharing stories

Friday 29th September

This afternoon, children have been decorating gingerbread men for the families joining us at mass on Sunday. We had some very creative designs. We hope all of the families and parishners enjoy them!

Ask your child all about our class novel!
