St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School

Below is an introduction to some of our School Governors

 

Mrs Emma McGrath (Chair of Governors)

Foundation Governor

Skills I contribute to the Governing Body:

Knowledge of primary school management and curriculum as a former Headteacher

Why I chose to be on the Governing Body at St Joseph’s

Former Deputy Headteacher many years ago and wanted to contribute to the School’s development

Any other information relevant to my role as a Governor:

Practising catholic, active in my parish. Experienced governor of primary and high school. Retired and have time to give to the school. Headteacher of two schools during my career as well as Associate Headteacher of two schools facing significant difficulties.

Skills I contribute to the Governing Body:

Commitment, teamwork, ability to listen and total understanding of the need for confidentiality. These are some of the skills I gained from my work as a nurse,  both hospital based and community based.

Why I chose to be on the Governing Body at St Joseph’s

I have 3 sons all of whom attended St Joseph’s so when asked by the Parish Priest at the time if I would become a governor I agreed with a sense of being able to give something back.

Any other information relevant to my role as a Governor:

I have good knowledge of the area of St Joseph’s school and was heavily involved in the life of the Parish. Having dealt with issues surrounding special educational needs I feel that as SEN governor I have an understanding of the concerns and needs of children and their families.

Have worked in education my whole working life.

Why I chose to be on the Governing Body at St Joseph's

A former student and now have a son at the school.

Any other information relevant to my role as Governor:

I have 12 years’ experience of SEN from working at the local high school.

Management Experience, common sense, knowledge of catchment area of school, Catholic
Why I chose to be in the Governing Body at St Joseph's

St Joseph's is my old school. I would like to give something back.

 

Mr George Pennington

Skills I contribute to the Governing Body:

I have had a career in Finance and Management and consider that skills that I learned and developed in my career would be useful to St Joseph’s Governing Body.
Why I chose to be in the Governing Body at St Joseph's

I was approached by a friend who considered that I would have the skills to contribute to St Josephs.  I am a practicing catholic and take an active role in my local parish.  I have an interest in the development of children and I am a Scout Leader at 8th Penwortham St Teresa’.

Skills I contribute to the Governing Body

I have considered and completed a skills audit in March 2018. I am confident that I can meet all the core skills and am lucky to have experience of many of the specialist skills required, and in time hope to be able to serve the school with these.

Why I chose to be on the Governing Body at St Joseph’s

I have been invited to join the governing body and am happy to give my best. I have been very positively impressed with the school since coming in as a volunteer in October 2016, and would like to help build on achievements already in place.
