Year 2B - Mrs Barraclough

Happy New Year everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and managed to have some lovely family time togather.

We have got a very exciting term ahead of us with lots of interesting new topics and learning experiences for your children.

English

In English we are going to be reading Hansel and Gretal before looking at Julia Donaldson's 'Room on the Broom'.  The children will be reading the books and the retelling the stories before changing part of the story to make a new version.

Maths

In Maths we are going to be finishing off some work on addition and subtraction before moving onto learning about money and the multiplication and division.S
Science

In Science the children are going to be looking at the life cycles of animals including humans and then looking at the different types of food that animals eat and food chains.  We will then be thinking about the importance of a healthy diet and exercise to humans.

Later on this term we will move onto our 'Materials' topic where we will be completing lots of exciting investigations to learn about the properties of different materials.

Topic

Our topic this term is history based and is called 'Castles, Kings and Queens'.  We will be learning about why castles were built, the features of a castle and who may have lived in a castle.  We will be visiting Clitheroe Castle to see a castle for ourselves.

As always if you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning please feel free to send me a message on class dojo and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
